Jobs: This is a generalized description of locum rheumatologist job
requirements. Specific assignment details may vary based on the
healthcare facility, geographic location and the patient population
and the medical services performed.General Job Responsibilities:
- Diagnose and treat patients with autoimmune diseases,
musculoskeletal disorders and other rheumatologic conditions, such
as rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, gout and osteoporosis.
- Perform joint injections, aspirations and other minor
procedures as necessary.
- Monitor patient progress, adjust treatments and manage
complications related to chronic conditions.
- Provide patient education about conditions, treatment options
and post-care management strategies.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to develop and
implement patient care plans.
- Maintain accurate and thorough medical records. Skills:
- In-depth knowledge of rheumatologic diseases, diagnostic
methods and treatment options.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent communication skills to explain complex medical
information to patients.
- Strong analytical skills to diagnose complex conditions.
- Excellent manual dexterity and precision.
- Flexibility to adapt to new work environments and different
medical teams. Minimum Education Requirements:
- Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree or Doctor of Osteopathic
Medicine (DO) degree from an accredited medical school.
- Residency training program in internal medicine or a related
field accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical
Education (ACGME) or the American Osteopathic Association
(AOA).
- Fellowship training in rheumatology. License & Certifications:
- Board certification in rheumatology by the American Board of
Internal Medicine (ABIM) or the American Osteopathic Board of
Internal Medicine (AOBIM).
- Active and unrestricted medical license in California.
Experience:
- While specific requirements may vary, most locum rheumatology
positions prefer candidates with at least one year of experience
providing care in a clinical setting. Additional Notes:
